DCNY: small parish receives large bequest
A parishioner told me yesterday that a parish in the DCNY recently received a considerable inheritance. The gift was large enough to insure that the church can continue into perpetuity. This is great news for a struggling parish, but I cautioned the parishioner to warn the parish that the diocese is likely salivating over their newly acquired wealth. Just as the DCNY closed Church of the Good Shepherd in Binghamton and grabbed their assets, so the DCNY would love to close another parish and use the assets to feed the beast, which is the diocesan administration.
