POLITICAL JESUS

Remember that stupid Mary-and-Joseph-as-homeless-family theme that leftist Christians love to toss around this time of year? In a stupid column for the Washington Post’s stupid “On Faith” section, former San FranciscoCalifornia Episcopal Bishop William Swing comes up with a new and much more stupid idea:

Two thousand years ago the Holy Family had a dream, scooped up their child and immigrated to Egypt. Today we have a “Dream Act” pending to assist immigrant young people.

Swinger? Buddy? Technically, it was Joseph who had the dream, not the Holy Family. That dream was awarning from God to go into Egypt temporarily in order to save Jesus’ life. Jesus and his family no more “immigrated” to Egypt than I “immigrate” to Brentwood, Missouri on those rare occasions that I want to shop at Whole Foods.
