ADJUSTMENTS

Apparently, Al Kimel (the Pontificator), an Episcopal priest who converted to Catholicism, is headed forOrthodoxy:

Fr. Kimel is to be ordained into the Orthodox Church on Pentecost Sunday (i.e. today) by Bishop Jerome of the Russian Church Abroad, for the Western Rite.

I think I get that, I really do. And I don’t think anyone else can get that until they come to the point where Fr. Kimel, thousands of others and I were in 2003.

It isn’t enough for you to decide that you can no longer intellectually assent to the doctrines of your church and that you need to move on. You have to come to the conclusion that you literally can’t make yourself walk inside an Episcopal church any more, that you can’t be an Episcopalian any longer.

At which point, the sky’s the limit. Once you’ve been there, and only when you’ve been there, everything is possible. Including the possibility that you just might have initially gotten things wrong.
