Christ Church Savannah property dispute is headed to U.S. Supreme Court
[Ed. Note: We have anticipated this decision to go to the Supreme Court for several months. The Georgia Supreme Court ordered the building returned to the diocese in December, 2011 after applying "neutral principles of law" to the conundrum of ownership. Their interpretation of "neutral principles" was a mess of Dennis Canon and prior hierarchical church rulings. The land was given to the parish prior to the development of the diocese, which further complicates ownership. There is no guarantee that the Supreme Court will agree to hear the case. It is estimated that this will be argued next fall. For more on this story, use the link: http://www.ajc.com/news/georgias-mother-church-fight-1396613.html. Cheryl M. Wetzel]
