All is Well ™: Altar from St. John’s Jersey City for Sale on eBay

This is sad.  I know Summit Ave.  My grandparents owned a radio-television repair shop on Summit Ave in Jersey City.  Now their shop is an Hispanic convenience store.  The neighborhood has changed significantly from what it was in the 40s-70s.  It no longer needs a radio-television shop, and apparently, since at least 1991, it hasn't needed an Episcopal Church either.  ed.

An altar from the shuttered St. John’s Episcopal Church in Jersey City has turned up on eBay, for sale by a New York importer at a nearly $50,000 price tag.

The 137-year-old Summit Avenue church closed in 1991. Since then, it has been the focus of a battle between the Episcopal Diocese of Newark, which wants it demolished, and folks like Doran who want the historic structure preserved.
