HOUSTON, TX: Two bishops, two visions of God's mission

Last week Episcopal Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori's told the Issues, Etc. radio audience that God's mission was "to heal the world and that when people-of-faith are engaged in that work they're participating in the lively creativity of God. ... Our work, as part of God's mission, is to respond to the needs of the suffering - human beings as well as the rest of creation."

Last night at the AMiA Winter Conference's opening worship celebration Archbishop Yong Ping Chung was more succinct: "God's mission is lost souls." declared the AMiA founding archbishop, who flew 20 hours from Malaysia to Houston to proclaim the Word of God and rally his flock to engage in mission -- the work of salvation.

He noted that, in part, AMiA was founded to bring the Gospel -- the Good News of Jesus Christ -- to the 130 million unchurched and lost souls in the United States, to lead them to Jesus.
