The Lies Continue

After worship this morning an elderly parishioner told me the latest (I guess) lie to be told about St. Andrew's Anglican Church. I can't tell you how many untruths I have heard about us; it has been quite a few that are apparently circulating around the Episcopal parishes in the Binghamton area. The latest one is that we sold all the dishes in the community center. I assume we are being accused of also pocketing the money since our present home, Memorial Park Baptist Church, has plenty of dishes. Neither happened. Why this kind of thing is being said about us I don't understand, except that there is obviously still a good deal of anger about our leaving pecusa.

I would hope that those who concoct these false stories might work to get beyond their anger as we too are working to do. It is disagreeable to think about what we believe to be the theft by the diocese of the properties and goods that were honestly purchased by the parishioners of St. Andrew's. The law unfortunately does not agree with what we believe on this.

This is to say that there's anger on both sides, but let's at the very least keep our anger within the bounds of truthful statements.
