and denominational divisions
"The Episcopal Church showed some typical American arrogance around the Robinson ordination when they weren't willing to continue to be in conversation with their brothers and sisters in the Anglican Communion globally. But the church shouldn't divide over this. They should stay together, live with their differences, keep talking, and respect each other's opinions. There are churches that will bless gay unions, and that's just a fact. They're there. And there are churches that won't. And those that won't shouldn't be pressured to do so by their liberal denominational leaders."

I find this a rather strange comment by Jim Willis; in general I like his social views. In this case, I think he mostly reflects our postmodern Western individualism. This idea to allow anything within the Church may work to a certain extent in the USA or in Europe, but exactly because we are part of a global Church, it does not work at all.
In the first place, it is utterly bad for our ecumenical relationships with the Roman Catholic and many other Churches, but we also make ourselves the laughing stock in our relationships with other religions.
What do you think here in the Muslim World people say of the Church that is unable to have one commo view of Bible and morality?
