From the Anglican Communion Network:
Network infrastructure will be available to new province
When a new Anglican Province becomes a reality in North America, the basic building blocks necessary for unifying and organizing a far-flung multi-national body will already be in place.
Over the last 18 months the Anglican Communion Network has been implementing integrated database and financial management tools that are proving to be enormously effective in the support of a changing and growing national organization. Those tools, which already track thousands of individuals and hundreds of parishes, will be transferable to the new provincial offices when they come into existence next year, said the Rev. Ron McKeon, who serves as the Network’s chief financial officer.
This system supports both a national database and financial management reporting systems in a secure environment that can be accessed and maintained by staff around the country, he added.
“It has been amazing to see how something as seemingly prosaic as a finance and database system has made a real difference on the ground,” said McKeon.
According to McKeon, the system gives everyone in the organization a unified and transparent database system for tracking information, finances, and membership. It has proven particularly effective as Anglican Communion Network convocations and leaders have moved outside of The Episcopal Church and its structures, and have faced the task of building new systems to organize Anglicans.
Annual independent audits by Certified Public Accountants monitor the integrity and reliability of the financial management reporting systems and recommend changes as necessary to maintain appropriate internal accounting controls.
