2300 and counting

We passed 2300 posts here at the DCNY blog and it's been a wild ride over the last several years. We've seen three parishes leave the DCNY for more orthodox provinces of the Anglican Communion. We've seen another parish (Church of the Holy Trinity) planted in Syracuse. We've seen a DCNY priest exonerated by the diocesan ecclesiastical court after the vendetta against that priest by the bishop failed. We have reported on the closing of Thornfield Camp and Conference Center and the slashing of the diocesan staff.

What we see locally is also happening nationally. pecusa is imploding and the Common Cause Partnership of orthodox dioceses and parishes is growing. Next week the Anglican Church in North America will be officially launched and there will be an orthodox primate for North America, Bishop Robert Duncan. When Bishop David Anderson said at the Plano meeting in Dallas in 2003 that a replacement province for North America was coming, how many of us could have believed at that time that it would be off and running less than six years later?

Things are moving quickly in the North American portion of the Anglican Communion. Next month our parish affiliation, the Convocation of Anglicans in North America will hold her third national council. This year CANA has added ten parishes. Overall, the Common Cause Partnership has added many more. As we celebrated in Pittsburgh a few years ago at the Hope and a Future conference, the Lord is on the move and we are thankful for His faithfulness to the emerging province in North America. We pledge to give our best efforts as guided by His Spirit to remain faithful to Him.
