1,000 new churches in 5 years
This is the goal of the Anglican Province of North America. Why do I believe that it is achievable? First, unlike pecusa's Decade of Evangelism the ACNA is filled with people who actually believe in and practice evangelism. Not every parishioner, mind you, but with sufficient numbers of witnesses and evangelists the ACNA can plant 1,000 churches. Second, the ACNA has the leadership to do so. The Decade of Evangelism had some of this same leadership also, but once they made their report it was gutted by the Executive Committee. Third, the United States and Canada are starved for an authentic, biblical witness to Jesus Christ within a liturgical expression that is more than the light entertainment that is served up in too many North American evangelical churches. This is doable, it is unquestionably pleasing to Christ, and there is a growing amount of interest and energy for this mission imperative.
