In the post below Canon Mary Glasspool talks about how liberal pecusa has become a lifeline for many. I'd like to challenge that.
This week I completed a murder mystery novel whose plot centered on vampires in America. It sounds far-fetched except that I googled this topic and found that there are vampire groups all over the country.
I would guess that those involved in these groups would say that they are a lifeline to them. Drinking human blood is described by these folks as energy-producing. They feel a sense of community with other "vampires." Some may even do criminal acts in pursuit of the vampire life.
As a Christian I believe that true life is a gift from God given to us through His Son Jesus Christ. So I evaluate claims about lifelines through this lens. If behavior is promoted that Scripture tells us is in conflict with how God has created life to be lived it can't be healthy no matter how many people say that it is. The Creator of life defines what life is. God has revealed His will for us and despite our distortions of love and life God's standards are still there to help and guide us.
So, what Canon Glasspool calls lifelines according to Scripture are deathlines leading people into a false sense of life. This is a hard truth, but eternity is a long time and our rebellion to God in this life does have consequences.
