After consecrating its new building just over five years ago, the congregation at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Paw Paw is preparing to vacate the structure, the latest victim of the struggling economy. This week, The Rev. Rebecca Crise, St. Mark's Church Rector said, "St. Mark's is not closing. The church is not a building. The church is the people."
The church Vestry has asked its attorney to pursue "deed in lieu of foreclosure;" this decision was communicated to the Parish at a meeting last Sunday, Aug. 1.
