The Gordian: Stand Firm Backs Gay Bishops
The headline above this article is at least as correct as the Guardian headline below:
Orthodox Christians are not opposed homosexual people--ie. people who have a deep compelling life long sexual attraction to others of the same sex--holding episcopal or any other office. So we stand WITH Rowan Williams. What we do object to is the following:
1. People in holy orders who have a deep compelling life long sexual attraction to others of the same sex actually engaging in sex acts with others of the same sex
And/Or
2. People in holy orders who have a deep compelling life long sexual attraction to others of the same sex teaching that having sex with people of the same sex is good and blessed
Now read, mark, and inwardly digest this truth so that you will not embarrass yourselves by posting asinine articles with asinine headlines like the one above.
"Rowan Williams backs gay bishops"Now listen...I am speaking now to the hundreds of radical leftist advocates for engaging-in-sex-acts-with-people-of-the-same-sex who check into this site on a regular basis.
In his first explicit declaration on the subject since taking office in 2002, Dr Rowan Williams signalled his personal support for the consecration of gay bishops in the Church of England but said he would never endorse gay clergy in relationships because of tradition and historical "standards" .
His comments, in an interview in the Times, risk deepening divisions within the church and the wider Anglican communion. Liberals will be angered by his explicit acknowledgement that celibacy must be compulsory for homosexual clergy but not for heterosexuals. While conservative ire will be fuelled by his stance which puts him at odds with church teaching.
