Mr. President,
On Wednesday November 10, 2010, you addressed a gathering at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta, Indonesia, where you discussed tolerance, human rights, free speech and religious freedom. You called for a commitment to the 'steady pursuit of progress' between Islam and the global community.
In your speech, you suggested that Indonesian Muslims reflect the spirit of religious tolerance that is enshrined in Indonesia's Constitution. However, in many parts of Indonesia, Christians are being prevented from worshipping in public, converts from Islam to Christianity are forced to live in hiding, others and being intimidated, imprisoned and even killed as a result of their Christian faith.
