It truly pains me to read about the closing of an Episcopal Church, especially those that have been around since the Revolutionary War. So I was truly saddened when I read a rumor that St Andrews Episcopal Church in Manitou Springs, Colorado might close as I knew it had been founded in the 1800's. I decided that the next time I got to Woodland Park, I would check things out and snap a few pictures.

Just west of Colorado Springs, Colorado, lies the eclectic mountain town of Manitou Springs nestled at the foot of Pike's Peak. Here one can catch the Pike's Peak Cog Rail for a beautiful ride to the top of the Peak. On a clear day, the vista is impressive. For those who are more athletically inclined, the base of Barr trail is located across the way from the Cog Rail terminal. This trail offers the greatest base-to-base summit climb in Colorado, with an altitude gain of over 7,800 feet in 12-plus miles.

I don't think there is a single square-shaped block in Manitou Springs. The block St Andrews sits on is no exception. The church is on the pointy end of a triangular-shaped block. One can walk three quarters of the way around it without ever getting off the sidewalk.
