The situation in South Carolina has become a full blown religious war and religious wars are mean wars. Two decades ago The Episcopal Church including the Diocese of South Carolina chose to embrace the legal model for the resolution of differences. One should hardly be surprised that we no longer act in accordance with the Christian Gospel which we are called to proclaim. We have a generation of clergy and senior leadership who have grown to maturity in a church that knows nothing but resolution through lawsuits.
