That's the current number of congregations in the orthodox Anglican Church in North America (ACNA), according to a report from the ACNA House of Bishops meeting. Their communique is posted below, but it is good to note that the ACNA is a growing movement rather than a dying institution. While pecusa has spent $18 million suing churches and dioceses, the ACNA is planting new churches and evangelizing neighborhoods. Having once been in pecusa, I can say that the difference is astounding and on the ACNA side of the divide, it is refreshing.
The goal of the ACNA is to plant 1,000 new churches in five years time, and a report to the House of Bishops states that the mission is on course to do so. While pecusa is spending tens of thousands of dollars on restructuring and millions on suing churches for buildings that they have no use for and will end up selling, the ACNA is planting churches. That difference speaks volumes.
