TEC Provisional Bishop vonRosenberg demands allegiance or face being deposed

"An abnormal reaction to an abnormal situation is normal behavior" according to holocaust survivor Viktor Frankl in his book "Man's Search for Meaning". He might have been talking about the latest for Episcopalians in South Carolina.
Like all clergy canonically resident in South Carolina I received a letter by certified mail this week from Charles vonRosenberg who serves as the Provisional Bishop for the Episcopal Church. This letter informed the clergy that we were to be offered two choices. We must declare our allegiance in writing to the Episcopal Church within two weeks. If we do not we must either renounce our orders or be deposed for, "Of Abandonment of the Episcopal Church" (Title IV Canon 16). My initial response is that my thirty one years as an active priest is all the allegiance I need to declare. As the sadness of this reality set in I became physically ill.
