First there were Episcopal missions followed by parishes dying on the vine. Next Episcopal schools, religious orders, and health care facilities bit the dust. Eventually, cathedrals put up their "We're Closed" signs. Now an entire diocese is in its death throes. In the not-too-distant-future, the Episcopal Diocese of Quincy will fade into memory and become a footnote in Anglican history after it is folded back into the neighboring Diocese of Chicago.
It is a sad ending for a once theologically conservative and spiritually vibrant - albeit small - Anglo-Catholic Episcopal diocese.
