Next frontier for Decade of Evangelism 1.6 billion unreached peoples for Christ

VOL interviews the Rev. Julian Linnell PhD, Executive Director of Anglican Frontier Missions, an organization based in Richmond, Virginia whose sole purpose is to reach the unreached with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

VOL: Anglican Frontier Missions has been around since 1993, some 20 years. The formation of AFM originated at a meeting of 23 leaders of the Episcopal Church on November 1, 1990 (All Saints' Day), coinciding with the first year of the "Decade of Evangelism" of the Anglican Communion. What has been the greatest accomplishment of AFM in that time?

LINNELL: As a new kid on the block, it was quite a surprise that AFM was invited to Lambeth 1998, along with the big players of Anglican missions world. One Bishop from Africa was taken aback when he spoke with AFM's Director and realized that despite all the hoopla attached to the "Decade of Evangelism", the Communion had not reached out to the 1.5 billion (or so) unreached peoples from minorities in the world. The unreached just got dropped.

VOL: You took over from the Rev. Tad de Bordenave, a pioneer in reaching unreached peoples. Has it been difficult following in his footsteps?
