SARASOTA, FL: Former Archbishop of Canterbury Reiterates Demise of Church of England
Lord Carey Praises Work of Wisconsin-based Nashotah House

The former Archbishop of Canterbury, Lord Carey, harshly criticized the Church of England and then compared the CofE to the status of churches in Africa which he said were thriving and growing. He also reiterated the demise of the CofE over the "soon coming years," a source has told VOL.

By doing so, he tacitly supported the Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans (GFCA) and GAFCON II which met recently in Nairobi.

He made his remarks at a private gathering in Sarasota, Florida. The 103rd Archbishop of Canterbury was in Sarasota to address parishioners at Our Redeemer Episcopal Church, an Anglo-Catholic congregation in the heart of Sarasota on the theme "Leadership in the 21st Century" and to preach at the ordination of three deacons.
