Your Excellency,
According to the Archbishop of Canterbury's official website, he and the Archbishop of York have this week written to you and the President of Uganda 'recalling the commitment made by the Primates of the Anglican Communion to the pastoral support and care of everyone worldwide, regardless of sexual orientation'.
The proposition that all Christians, regardless of sexual orientation, should be offered 'pastoral support and care' is uncontroversial. But we as confessing Anglicans in the Church of England would affirm that pastoral care involves us as Christian people being clearly instructed by our spiritual leaders in the teaching of the Bible that the only right context for the expression of sexual love is heterosexual marriage.
