The Episcopal Church: 1984 or 2014?

George Orwell's 1949 Novel 1984 describes a futuristic society in which the world is controlled by a small elite class using a language known as 'Newspeak" as their means for domination. Among its most notorious achievements is the creation of "Doublethink" which allows a person to hold mutually contradictory beliefs as a means of avoiding reality. The only thing that Orwell seems to have missed is the date by thirty years.

Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer during a recent interview responded to his change from a liberal and writer for The New Republic, to conservative columnist. He cited his training as a student at Harvard Medical School if a prescribed cure is killing the patient cease the cure. This appears to have escaped the leadership of The Episcopal Church. In the future when history is written 2013 will be stand out in a decade noted for exceptional failures.
