The archbishops of Canterbury and York have badly miscalculated the Global South in their support of the Pilling Report. The two Brits (one is black) are lecturing African presidents on how they should deal with homosexual behavior in their countries and churches, while they, in turn, have taken positions on a report that could see the eventual permanent distancing of the largest bloc of Anglicans, some 40 million, from the head of the Anglican Communion and the Church of England.

Archbishop Justin Welby has barely completed one year in office. His capital is already running low with Global South Anglicans following a disastrous pas de deux in Nairobi at GAFCON II. Goodwill is fading fast even as he sits in Africa glad handing archbishops in Southern Sudan, Burundi and Congo.
