The on again, off again Harvard University "black mass" was apparently on again -- sort of -- as the minute hand slowly ticked toward the witching hour Monday. At 11:58 p.m. the Harvard Crimson daily posted "Although the Harvard Extension School Cultural Studies Club dropped its sponsorship of a re-enactment of a satanic ‘black mass’ ritual earlier in the night, members of the New York-based Satanic Temple gathered for what appeared to be a black mass on the second floor of the Hong Kong restaurant and lounge shortly after 10 p.m. Monday."

The student newspaper noted that about 50 people apparently attended the highly controversial ceremony.

A scheduled "re-enactment" of a black mass -- which is described as "a ritual performed as a religious travesty of the Catholic Mass used in the religion of satanism" --- was supposedly scheduled by the Harvard Extension School's Cultural Studies Club in conjunction with New York-based The Satanic Temple to expose students to different cultural practices. Usually, a consecrated Eucharistic host is used in the satanic ceremony.
