“Episcopalians and Neo-liberalism”

The moral, intellectual and spiritual failure of classic liberalism spawned a neo-liberalism noted for its reliance on legalism as the means to maintain power and control. Classic liberals were characterized by openness and tolerance, but this mutation is capricious with an over zealous reliance on regulation and litigation.

The recent uproar by the invitation from Rutgers University to former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to be commencement speaker is the latest example. How can one forget a young female Muslim student standing before a camera accusing Secretary Rice of being a “war criminal.” Her remarks were so outlandish that the normally gracious political commentator Steve Hayes referred to her as just dumb. Compounding this tragedy is that this women is not dumb at all. She understands that as female and a Muslim she holds great power as a protected minority in this liberal University; a university whose ideals are reflected by a previous commencement speaker “Snooki” Polizzi of the “Jersey Shore” reality show who shared her personal philosophy of “study hard but party harder.”
