I have been generally supportive of women's ordination for the last 20 years or so, but the kind of statement that was made in the September 10th issue of U.S. News & World
Report on page 32 causes me to wonder:
Stained-Glass-Ceiling-Breakers
"In the past two decades, the number of female clergy has more than
tripled. In the past 50 years, nearly every major religion that allows female clergy has seen membership plummet. And every major religious that doesn't, such as the
Roman Catholics, has seen a rise. ----- The cold statistics show that this new class of female clergy is struggling because the stricter religions are growing and the liberalized religions are shrinking."
