Dear Trinity Community,
Please pray for Christians in Upper Egypt. Yesterday after the Christmas’ eve service, three Muslims shot some Christians coming out of the church. That was in a little city called Naga Hammadi (yes that is where some of the gnostic gospels where found). 7 were killed and 9 are wounded. It was a premeditated murdering.
Muslims chose this time so that instead of celebrating Christmas Copts will be in mourning. The Eastern Churches celebrate Christmas in January 7.

At least six persons were killed in a drive-by shooting in Naga Hammadi, Egypt on January 7. Five of the dead are Coptic Christians who were leaving church at 11:30 PM. One of the dead was a police officer. Seven others were wounded in the attack.
The attack occured some 40 miles from the famed ruins at Luxor in Qeda province. Egyptian security forces are searching for the shooters who fled the scene in a car.
Coptic Christians observe the birth of Jesus on January 7. They constitute about 9 percent of Egyptians. Ninety percent of Egyptians are Muslim.
