The Central New York Episcopal Diocese responds to recent accusations against a former priest.

As the story points out it wasn't until 2006 that the DCNY took action. Fr. David Bollinger first reported the complaints in 2002. btw, is the DCNY again paying for the services of a public relations firm as it did when these allegations were first made public? ed.

Syracuse, NY (WBNG Binghamton)

82 year old, Ralph Johnson of Gibson is accused of forcing a teenage boy to have sex nearly 20 years ago.

The adult victim now says the church did not help him recover from abuse, which spanned 4 years.

However, the diocese says it is offering him therapy.

Bishop Gladstone Adams says these allegations are just surfacing.

The church did hear rumors about abuse involving Johnson back in 2004.

While no one came forward then, Adams did ask Johnson to step down as pastor.

But it wasn't until 2006 when church removed his title and church role.

Johnson is now facing charges in Susquehanna County.
