Openings and Closings

I hope that DCNY readers have noticed the differences between pecusa and the ACNA. One big difference is that the ACNA is opening new churches while pecusa is closing old ones. I've been told that church closures is a strategy (a sick one) to accumulate money. It is a short term strategy with very little chance of long term benefit. The strategy includes yoking small churches, then consolidating two or more congregations in one building and selling the other ones.

While pecusa continues to sell buildings the figure for litigation has topped $22 million by one report. This paints a very ugly picture to the world as well as being in violation of Jesus' own words about how Christians are to treat other Christians. This behavior begs the question, are pecusa leaders actually Christians? While not mentioned by name, Bishop Skip Adams' selling of the Good Shepherd Church in Binghamton to Muslims for a third of what he was offered by the former congregation lead a Wall Street Journal article about pecusa (see below).

pecusa has oodles of money, but they are losing members at an alarming rate. But, are they alarmed?
