SEATTLE: Rev. Kevin Allen Consecrated as ACNA Bishop of Cascadia Diocese
October 12, 2011
In the most significant, official act for Anglican Christians in the Pacific Northwest who belong to the 100,000-member Anglican Church in North America, an overflow crowd of 350 people celebrated the consecration of the Reverend Kevin Allen as the inaugural Bishop of the Cascadia Diocese on Friday, September 30.
"To have such a bishop and such a diocese--and an ever-increasing number of vibrant congregations -- in one of the most under-evangelized regions of the continent is early evidence of the Anglican Church's deep commitment to reach all of North America with the transforming love of Jesus Christ."
The Most Reverend Robert Wm. Duncan, Archbishop and Primate of the American Church in North America (ACNA), presided over the consecration in west Seattle. The worship ceremony was attended by 24 ACNA bishops from throughout the U.S. and Canada.
"The consecration of Bishop Kevin Allen marks a significant milestone for the Anglican Church in North America," said Archbishop Duncan.
