There is a difference : A tale of Two Cathedrals

There is a drastic difference between a cathedral which has lovingly deconsecrated so that it again become a functioning House of God and one which has been spitefully desecrated in which the faithful are being kept away from that House of God. One action comes as the result of an Act of God the other at the hands of sinful man.

Earlier this month the earthquake-ravaged Christ Church Cathedral in Christchurch, New Zealand saw its sacred status reduced to commonplace relics amid hymns and prayers laced through the pomp and ceremony of a reverent tear-filled Anglican liturgical service. This deconsecration was done so that damaged cathedral can be carefully and thoughtfully deconstructed - stone by stone - to be lovingly reconstructed into new house of prayer where God will be again worshipped, honored and adored.
