If anyone was naive enough to believe that the Bishop's Disciplinary Committee of The Episcopal Church would be the last word in the challenge to Bishop Mark Lawrence and South Carolina welcome to the Episcopal Church world of "realpolitik". I once heard a famous criminal defense attorney remark that once a skunk is tossed into the jury room the judge's instructions to ignore it will have no effect since the smell remains. There is a lot about this process that just does not smell right.
