The fruit of liberalism

Diocese of Washington:  Discernment for Holy Orders is Closed

It appears the process for entering discernment for holy orders is closed in the Diocese of Washington at least through the end of 2012.

This quote from a letter to the clergy is very interesting.
A Roman Catholic colleague once asked me if the Episcopal Church was also experiencing a clergy shortage. “No,” I said. “What we have is a shortage of lay people.” The work before us is to rebuild our congregations into the vital centers of Christian community, discipleship formation, and mission that Christ needs us to be. The ordination process, as with all other aspects of our diocesan life, is ultimately in service to that work.
One wonders if she is aware that the cause for the large deficit in laity has to do with the lack of preaching the Gospel as Christ preached it as opposed to the current cut and paste version embraced by the revisionists
