Episcopal Same-Sex Marriage Bible Selections: Doin’ What They Say the Fundies Do!
The vile, hate-filled, sermon-stalking monster known as the Underground Pewster is at it again.
He’s explored the Bible lessons attached to the new same-sex marriage materials of the Episcopal Church.
Guess what? They pull passages out of context as “proof texts,” in some cases overturning the obvious meaning of a lesson to say the opposite of what it means. You know, just like those proof-texting-stupid-fundamentalists that we are so unlike in our great scholarship and deeper understanding of the Bible.
The low-light of the new thing is the ravaging of The Letter to the Galatians, as Pewster explains:

And what would Paul do if he saw his letter to the Galatians carved up so as to omit verses 15-21 (as it is suggested to use Galatians 5:14, 22-26)?
15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.I guess most couples will pick the next choice because it so fits the theology.
16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh.
