pecusa health plan

With the mandates from the General Convention, the next post concludes that the DCNY is a loser.  I don't believe this is true.  When I came into the DCNY I left a diocese that was part of the pecusa health plan.  In fact, I had served in three dioceses as a priest and every other diocese that I had served in was part of the pecusa health plan.  It didn't take long in the DCNY to discover that the diocesan health plan was inferior to the pecusa plan.  It covered less and cost clergy more.  However, the diocesan plan cost churches and the diocese less.

So, who are the winners and losers?  While churches and the diocese will pay more the clergy will have better coverage.  The winners and losers question depends on your perspective.
