Rethinking recent posts

In "Trusting liberals" I called the early leaving from General Convention by the Diocese of South Carolina delegation a stunt.  Yesterday I rethought that.  Maybe they were the only ones who responded rightly to the stench of GC12.  Even so, their act of differentiation was paltry and inconsequential.  It reminds me of a courtroom scene from the movie A  Few Good Men.

In that scene, the lawyer played by Demi Moore offers an objection that is overruled by the judge, and a second objection that is also overruled.  Finally, she "strenuously objects," which is also overruled.  DSC's stunt likely had about as much effect as that last motion.

Maybe DSC's action at GC was an opening salvo of a larger differentiation.  I hope so.
