Prior to the vote against the fourth moratoria on litigation against churches (a practice that Jesus condemned, but the moratorium lost by one), the ACC was treated to lies from the Presiding Bishop. First, she said that the moratoria were being observed except for the border crossing. This is demonstrably false. The only portion of the moratorium that pecusa has kept is the one requesting that a active homo-erotic priest not be elected bishop. This too could have been broken since active gays have stood for election to the office of bishop.
Second, the PB complained that incursions by foreign bishops have been happening since 2000. What she neglected to say is that the primates have expressly agreed that there is no moral equivalency between incursions and the actions of pecusa that precipitated the incursions. The PB complains,
"I have been persuaded that those who engage in cross boundary actions have no intention of stopping regardless of what the Primates say, what the Joint standing committee says, the Lambeth Conference says and regardless of what the ACC does today."
We could say the same thing about the other moratoria that pecusa has been consistently violating. pecusa delegate Ian Douglas complained about possible "moratorium creep." How absurd! The ACC was being asked to restore a moratorium that had been deleted. The moratorium was part of the Dar es Salaam statement and the ACC deleted it, although when the press spokesperson was asked why it was deleted he could only answer "I don't know." We know - pecusa didn't want it and pecusa pays the bills for the ACC.
