ACTION ALERT: Voice Your Opposition to the Ground Zero Mosque

From: Act for America Sent: Friday, May 21, 2010 9:32 AM

SPECIAL ACTION ALERT
FOR OUR NY, NJ, PA, CT, WASHINGTON DC, MD, VA,
DE, AND RI MEMBERS!!

VOICE YOUR OPPOSITION TO THE GROUND ZERO
MOSQUE

ATTEND THE MAY 25TH MANHATTAN COMMUNITY BOARD 1 MEETING IN NEW YORK CITY!

As we have noted in recent e-mails, less than nine years after the worst terrorist attack on American soil in our history, an imam who blames America for the 9/11 attack wants to construct a 13-story mosque and Islamic center 600 feet from "Ground Zero."

Recently, Manhattan's Community Board 1 finance committee voted unanimously in support of this mosque. Why? Unfortunately, while Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf and his wife Daisy Khan-who are leading the mosque project-made a presentation before the Board-the opposition was not represented as few knew about the meeting, and no public announcement was made.

On May 25th, this issue will go before Manhattan Community Board 1's full committee. Though the Committee's decision is NOT legally binding, they are, politically, a very powerful group in Manhattan (their opposition to the KSM trial in New York caused New York's elected officials to come out formally in opposition).

Right now, only the supporters of the mosque have been heard by Community Board 1. On May 25th, those who are appalled by this disrespectful project will have an opportunity to be heard, if merely by their presence.

THE MAY 25TH MEETING IS EXPECTED TO BE COVERED BY A LOT OF MEDIA. WE NEED TO SHOW THE WORLD, RESPECTFULLY BUT FIRMLY, THAT AMERICANS ARE VEHEMENTLY OPPOSED TO THIS PROJECT AND THAT WE WILL NOT STAND FOR IT.

THE SPECIFICS:

WHAT: Manhattan Community Board - 1 Full Committee Meeting on the Proposed Times Square Mosque

WHEN: Tuesday, May 25, 2010 @ 6:00 P.M. (EST)

WHERE: Three Legged Dog Art and Technology Center, 80 Greenwich Street
(at Rector Street)

The meeting is open to the public. You do not need to be a New Yorker to attend. Remember: 9/11 was an attack on all of us-an attempt to hit the economic center of the U.S. What happens on or near "Ground Zero" concerns us all, not just the local community.

GRAB YOUR NIEGHBOR, YOUR FAMILY, YOUR FRIENDS, AND HEAD TO MANHATTAN ON MAY 25TH. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD. COMMUNITY BOARD 1, THE PRESS, AND ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS MUST SEE THAT THE VAST MAJORITY OF AMERICA WILL NOT STAND FOR A MOSQUE ON OR NEAR "GROUND ZERO."

REMEMBER, YOUR VOICE COUNTS!

IF EACH OF US DOES JUST A LITTLE, TOGETHER WE CAN
ACCOMPLISH A LOT!
