Dear Colleague,
We are writing in the wake of the letter from the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church to the Primates of the Anglican Communion that her consecration of a woman in a partnered same-sex relationship represents the mind of the majority of elected leaders in the Episcopal Church. Many will have noted the lack of formal protests with relation to the consecration, because orthodox Anglicans have moved on since 2003 and many (over 800 churches) have actually protested by forming the Anglican Church in North America.
General Synod in February resolved
Editor's Note: What is posted above is what I received via Google Reader. When I tried to go to the story at VirtueOnline (several times) I was informed that the story doesn't exist. I have tried without success to pull up a cached copy. Maybe someone with greater computer skills than the editor can pull it up and email it to me.
The last line references a resolution from the February meeting of the General Synod of the Church of England. My guess is that the reference is to the following resolution from that meeting:
“That this Synod (a) recognise and affirm the desire of those who have formed the Anglican Church in North America to remain within the Anglican family; (b) acknowledge that this aspiration, in respect both of relations with the Church of England and membership of the Anglican Communion, raises issues which the relevant authorities of each need to explore further; and (c) invite the Archbishops to report further to the Synod in 2011.”
